The Geometric GoatLink RD Extender is a compact yet powerful derailleur hanger extension designed to help your bicycle run larger cassette sprockets than normally supported. By repositioning the rear derailleur further back and down, it enables better chain clearance and expanded gear range for both road and MTB drivetrains. Available in Black and Red finishes with lightweight alloy construction.

Specifications & Dimensions

  • Material: CNC-machined aluminium alloy (single mold) for durability and stiffness.

  • Included hardware: Comes with lightweight alloy bolts for mounting.

  • Weight: Approx. 100 g per unit

  • Colour variants: Black, Red

  • Compatibility & cassette limits:
     • Standard model: Works up to road bike 32/34T sprockets; MTB up to ~40T, 42T, 46T sprockets.
     • Extended model: Supports up to road 34T / 36T / 42T; MTB up to 42T / 46T / 50T / 58T sprockets.

  • Supported gear systems: Compatible with Shimano / SRAM 8 / 9 / 10 / 11 / 12-speed rear derailleurs.

  • Purpose: Extends pulley and cassette distance for fitting larger cassettes.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Repositions the rear derailleur to handle bigger sprockets cleanly, reducing risk of chain rub or derailleur interference.

  • Allows upgrading to wider-range cassette gearsets beyond stock limits, without needing a full derailleur replacement.

  • Solid alloy construction ensures rigidity and long-term durability under tension.

  • Lightweight and compact—adds minimal weight but high utility.

  • Easy aesthetic customization with two colour options.

Usage Instructions

Installation Steps

  1. Remove your existing rear derailleur from the hanger, leaving the hanger intact.

  2. Place the GoatLink extender between the derailleur and the hanger, aligning bolt holes.

  3. Insert the supplied bolts and tighten to proper torque; typically around 8–10 N·m (consult bolt specs).

  4. Mount the derailleur onto the GoatLink, and adjust its position (angle and height) so the upper pulley aligns well with the cassette.

  5. Adjust B-screw limit, high / low limit screws, and indexing as necessary to fine-tune shifting.

  6. Test shifting through all sprockets to confirm smooth operation with the new extended range.

Adjustment Tips

  • With larger sprockets installed, you may need to adjust B-screw to maintain proper pulley-to-cassette spacing.

  • Fine tuning of limit screws is essential to avoid overshooting or chain drop.

  • Use incremental gear changes during testing and confirm no rub in cross-chains.

Precautions & Safety Notes

  • Ensure bolts are torqued correctly; under-tightening can cause slippage, over-tightening may damage threads or extend hanger.

  • This extender does not increase the chain wrap capacity of the derailleur—only shifts its position. Exceeding chain capacity (i.e. too large cassette + big front ring combination) can cause issues.

  • Use only with compatible derailleurs (Shimano / SRAM 8 to 12 speed) as stated.

  • After any crash or impact, inspect the GoatLink, hanger, and derailleur for bending or damage before riding again.

  • Always recheck limit, indexing and chain tension after installation.

  • Do not modify or drill the extender—it may compromise strength and safety.

  • Store and handle in dry conditions; exposure to corrosive environments may degrade bolt threads over time.
